Marble furniture is heavy, permanent and changes slowly with use. This guide covers what to know before buying any piece.

Solid pieces are stone through. Veneer is a thin layer on a lighter core. Check the edge: on solid stone, the veining continues around it.

Plan where it goes before delivery. Use felt pads on wooden floors.

Seal it, use coasters, clean with pH-neutral products. Marks become patina, and the surface can be restored.

It lasts for decades and can be refinished.

Some stones can, but frost and acid rain wear the surface. Indoors is safer.
