Care

How to clean a marble sink.

Marble needs little care, but the right care. Most problems come from acidic cleaners and water left to dry on the surface.

Daily

Every day.

Rinse with warm water and a drop of pH-neutral soap. Wipe dry with a soft cloth. Drying is the step that prevents most water marks.

Avoid

What not to use.

Vinegar, lemon, limescale removers, bleach and abrasive powders. They etch the surface and leave dull spots. Keep toothpaste, perfume and coloured cosmetics off the stone where you can.

Stains

Water marks and stains.

For limescale, use a cleaner made for marble, not a standard descaler. For oil or colour stains, a poultice made for natural stone draws the stain out over 24 to 48 hours. Dull etch marks can be polished out by a stone professional.

Seal

Sealing.

Seal the basin at installation and again when water stops beading on the surface. In a bathroom used daily, that is often once or twice a year.
