Stone

Travertine sinks.

Travertine is a natural limestone formed by mineral springs. Ours is Travertino Alabastrino: pale ivory with soft beige bands.

Character

How it looks.

Travertine has fine pores and a warm, matte surface. The banding runs in one direction, so each basin has a clear grain. It reads softer than Carrara and warmer than white marble.

Finish

Pores and filling.

The natural pores are typically filled during finishing so the surface is smooth and easy to clean. Small variations in the filling are part of the stone.

Care

Day to day.

Like marble, travertine reacts to acids. Seal it, clean it with pH-neutral soap and wipe it dry. Avoid vinegar and lemon-based cleaners.
