Guide

Calacatta Viola. White marble with burgundy veining.

Calacatta Viola is a white marble with veins in burgundy, violet and grey. It is one of the most recognisable stones in interiors right now. Here is what to know.

01

The look.

The base is white to cream. The veining is bold and irregular, in deep red to purple tones. Some pieces are densely patterned, others have a few wide veins. No two are alike.

02

Pairing.

The stone carries a room on its own, so keep the rest simple. Warm white walls, dark wood, brass or stainless taps. Avoid competing patterns on the floor or walls.

03

Care.

Care is the same as other polished marble: seal it, wipe up spills, use pH-neutral cleaners. The strong veining hides small marks better than plain white stone.
