Guide
The veins in marble are mineral deposits laid down as the stone formed. They are the reason two pieces never look the same. This guide explains what that means when you order.
01
Marble forms when limestone recrystallises under heat and pressure. Impurities, clay, iron, silica, form the coloured veins. The colour depends on the minerals: grey, gold, red, green.
02
Within one stone type, veining can be sparse or dense, fine or wide. Product photos show the stone type. The piece you receive will have its own pattern.
03
Veins, colour shifts and small natural fissures are part of the stone. Cracks that go through the piece are not. A good supplier selects pieces to avoid structural flaws.
Questions
For standard products, the pattern is unique to each piece. For custom work, ask about selecting from available stone.
Usually not. Open fissures can be, which is why they are filled or avoided during selection.
Because it is natural stone. Colour and veining vary from piece to piece.
