Guide
Both are white marbles from the same region in Italy. They are often confused. The differences are in the base colour and the veining.
01
Carrara is white to light grey, sometimes with a blue tone. Calacatta is whiter and brighter.
02
Carrara has fine, soft, feathered grey veins spread evenly. Calacatta has bolder, wider veins with more contrast, sometimes in gold or, in Calacatta Viola, burgundy.
03
Carrara is calmer and more forgiving of marks. Calacatta is more graphic and usually more expensive. Both need the same care.
